This photo series documents the 1 and half days I had spent with my host at the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village - Pueblo Antonio, Davao City. A community that helps poor people to get back on their feet. The village is plunged into darkness at 8pm with only a single street lamp illuminating the street. My host Teresita has her own home while her other two daughters with their own families live side by side in seperate homes.

Teresita, in her new GK home, finally feels at ease to be part of a close-knit community.

Angie, 23, with her 1 year 6 month old son, Arvin. She has been living in this bamboo shack for 16 years. There is no source of light in the shack. She hopes that one day she and her husband will be able to afford a GK house, which typically costs around $3,000.00.
